Community

The Ouseburn Valley in recent years has given rise to a community of geography and a wider community of interest.

The residential population of the Valley floor remains relatively small, but developments towards the river Tyne may soon change that. The main daily community is made up of businesses and creative enterprises who are based here, and the evening crowd visiting the pubs and venues here.

Around the Valley edges, significant and diverse populations live in Byker Wall, the St Lawrence area, St Ann's and Battlefield estates and the Lime Square and Mariner's Wharf developments. There is a high concentration of transient student populations, who we hope to engage in our cultural volunteering programmes.

We consider our beneficiaries to be anyone living in these areas who feels a connection to the Valley, but also anyone from further afield who uses the resources of the Valley, from business to leisure.

  Voices from the Ouseburn Valley

People are always very enthusiastic about the Valley and what it has to offer. We have captured some of that enthusiasm on film, so why not watch the video which can be found here and compare their thoughts with what excites you about the area.

If you want to share that enthusiasm, please tweet your thoughts to @iloveouseburn
