Would you like support to ensure your community building is WELCOMING, WELL MANAGED, SAFE and INCLUSIVE?

We have brought together a small consortium of community support organisations from across Newcastle to assist local management communities to make their community building safe, welcoming, well managed and inclusive. The course is free and it covers a broad range of subjects, together with free personal support using a mentoring programme. The package leads to a new recognised accreditation for Newcastle Community Buildings called Open Doors, which has the support of Newcastle City Council.

This local consortium comprises a number of established community based support organisations who are based in Newcastle. They will deliver a comprehensive training and mentoring support programme to assist community centres in Newcastle to reach that standard.

The programme will run throughout the year so people can come to the most appropriate for them and their centre, based on the themes: WELCOMING, WELL MANAGED, SAFE and INCLUSIVE.  They will be held in various community centres and people attending will be encouraged to apply the lessons they have learned within their own centres through a process of continuous improvement and ‘action learning’.

The programme is based on

  • Delivering a training programme that is fun and yet thought provoking

  • Networking of centres and being able to share experience and good ideas

  • Visits to other organisations and centres to see how they do things

  • Mentoring and peer support

  • Access to a broader range of support from partner organisations

Participating in ‘Open Doors’ could help you generate: More users, new skills, new ideas, new funding and more effective ways of working together with other centres.
